Privacy Policy

We built this site to share ideas, not collect personal data. This policy explains exactly what happens when you visit.

Last updated: 24 April 2026

1. Who We Are

This website, The Belonging Economy, is operated by Shrab Singh. It is a content site for the fitness, leisure, and wellbeing industry, published at https://the-belonging-economy.com.

For privacy enquiries, contact Shrab Singh via LinkedIn.

2. What Data We Collect

2a. Analytics (Umami)

We use Umami, a self-hosted, privacy-respecting analytics platform. Umami collects:

  • Page views and navigation paths
  • Referring URL (how you arrived at this site)
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type (desktop, tablet, mobile)
  • Country-level location (derived from IP address)

Important: IP addresses are anonymised before any data is recorded and are never stored. Umami uses no cookies. No consent banner is required and none is shown.

Umami is hosted on our own server - no data is sent to any third-party analytics company.

2b. Google Analytics (GA4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (property G-VZSJQG7SBG) to understand how visitors use this site. GA4 collects:

  • Page views and navigation paths
  • Session duration and engagement metrics
  • Device type, browser, and country-level location
  • Traffic source (how you arrived at this site)

Important: IP addresses are anonymised by Google before data is stored. We have enabled IP anonymisation and do not use GA4 for advertising or remarketing. Data is processed under Google's Data Processing Terms (DPA). You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

GA4 data is processed on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR / EU GDPR). Our legitimate interest is understanding site usage in order to improve it.

2c. localStorage (Your Browser)

We store two items in your browser's localStorage:

  • Theme preference - whether you prefer dark or light mode
  • Access gate status - whether you have entered the access password for the Keynote page

These values are stored entirely within your own browser. They are never transmitted to our servers, never shared with third parties, and are not personal data. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

2d. Subscriber Data

If you choose to subscribe to updates via our subscribe page, we collect:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your role, region, and content preferences (optional fields)

This data is stored securely on our own server, encrypted at rest. It is used solely to send you updates about The Belonging Economy. We will never share, sell, or transfer this data to any third party. You may unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link included in every email we send, or by contacting us directly.

Subscriber data is processed on the basis of consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR / EU GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

Unless you actively choose to subscribe to updates, we do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or any contact details
  • Payment information (we have no e-commerce)
  • Personal profiles or accounts
  • Any data that could identify you as an individual

If you do not submit any forms on this site, no personal data about you is collected or stored.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Analytics (Umami and Google Analytics 4): processed on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR / EU GDPR). Our legitimate interest is understanding how the site is used so we can improve it. Because Umami does not use cookies and does not store personal data, no consent is required for Umami under PECR. GA4 is configured with IP anonymisation and is not used for advertising purposes.

Subscriber data: processed on the basis of consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR / EU GDPR). Consent is freely given when you submit the subscribe form, and may be withdrawn at any time.

5. Data Retention

Analytics data (Umami and GA4) is retained for 12 months, after which it is deleted or reset.

Subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Upon unsubscription or deletion request, your email and personal details are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

6. Third-Party Services

Google Fonts

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests a font file, Google may log the request including your IP address. This is a standard web request; Google’s own privacy policy governs that processing. If you prefer to prevent this, you can block requests to Google’s CDN via your browser or a DNS blocker - the site will fall back to system fonts.

Resend (Email Delivery)

Outbound emails (such as subscription confirmations) are delivered via Resend (resend.com). Your email address is passed to Resend solely for the purpose of delivering the email. Resend does not use your data for any other purpose. Their privacy policy is available at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

No Advertising Networks or Tracking Pixels

We use no advertising networks, no social media tracking pixels, and no remarketing tools.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) of any personal data we hold
  • Portability of your data in a machine-readable format
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Restrict processing in certain circumstances

Because we hold no personal data that could be linked to you as an individual, most of these rights are satisfied by design. If you have any concern or request, please contact Shrab Singh via LinkedIn.

8. Data Selling & Advertising

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with advertising networks or data brokers.

At present, this site carries no advertising and is self-funded. We may in future display advertising in order to generate revenue to support the site's activities and continued development. Should we do so, this policy will be updated to reflect any change in data processing, and we will take appropriate steps to ensure any advertising partners meet our data protection standards. We will never use subscriber data for advertising targeting purposes.

9. Governing Law

This privacy policy is governed by UK GDPR (as retained by the Data Protection Act 2018) and, for visitors in the European Union, by the EU GDPR. The site is operated from England and Wales.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
