Two businesses. Same AI tools. Same access. Same budget. One dominates its market. The other ceases to exist. That question has occupied Shrab Singh for most of his professional life — and The Belonging Economy is his answer to it.

Shrab is originally from the UK. More than thirty years ago he moved to Mallorca, Spain, where he has lived and worked ever since. Much of that time has been spent in and around the travel and tourism sector — one of the industries most acutely shaped by technology, shifting consumer behaviour, and the relentless pressure to deliver human experiences at scale. That context matters. It is where he first understood that the businesses which survive disruption are not the ones that automate the fastest. They are the ones that understand what cannot be automated.

Alongside his work in travel and tourism, Shrab has been a software developer and business development specialist throughout his career — building systems, advising companies, and more recently developing and deploying AI solutions on a daily basis. He teaches and speaks on AI not as a theoretical subject but as a practitioner: someone who works with the tools, understands their limits, and has watched enough waves of technology arrive to know the difference between genuine transformation and noise.

The Belonging Economy

This book began as a research project into AI's impact on white-collar employment, produced in partnership with research from Anthropic. What emerged was a larger argument: that when AI automates knowledge work at scale, it will not merely destroy jobs. It will destroy the invisible social infrastructure built around work — the colleagues, the commute, the coffee machine, the reason most people leave their homes every day. What follows is an isolation epidemic. And the fitness and leisure sector is uniquely positioned to fill that void.

The Belonging Economy is his first book. It is available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback editions.

Background

Shrab founded Storm Studios, a technology and strategy consultancy working with startups and established businesses across the UK and Europe, and GYMQR, a data platform built specifically for fitness and leisure operators — designed to turn member behaviour into belonging signals.

Earlier in his career he served as Business Development Manager for Google Maps in the Balearic Islands, leading the expansion of Google Street View's Business Photos programme across Spain, bridging creative marketing with technical execution at scale.

He works with leadership teams on one core question: when everyone has the same AI tools, what makes the difference between the businesses that thrive and the ones that disappear?

Speaking and consulting

Shrab is available for keynote speaking, panel appearances, and advisory work. His sessions are built for fitness and leisure operators, HR and people leaders, investors, and organisations navigating the transition to an AI-driven economy.
